We look forward to working with your students to help them navigate the SAT and provide them with the tools to improve their test scores. I am a certified Princeton Review instructor and will be using the program to facilitate your students' Intensive Course. I will be focusing on the English section, and my colleague, David "Bru" Brudenski, will support them with the mathematics. Bru was a high school math teacher for 42 years and is a brilliant and sought-after member of our team.
Your student will have access to their Princeton Review Student Portal for one year. This portal is packed with practice lessons, practice tests, videos, and resources to support them as they prepare for their SAT. I will tell the students that although this April will be the first time they take the SAT, they may take it additional times throughout the year. If they practice the skills and "tricks of the trade" we teach in this course, they will undoubtedly improve their scores with each attempt. I will remind them that they would never just play a soccer championship without practicing ahead of time, or lift 250 pounds on their first try... They would lift a little each day to build muscle (and in this case, brain) strength and memory.
They will be assigned a practice test after our first meeting tomorrow. The results will show your child (and me) exactly where their gaps are. For example, instead of just saying they got a 580 in math and a 520 in reading, the portal will break down which questions were missed within each category: algebraic questions, trig questions, rhetorical synthesis questions, vocabulary, dual meaning, etc... Their portal not only shows which questions were missed, but also provides the correct answers with an explanation with additional practice questions. This helps us pinpoint where we need to focus our energy.
We will meet in the Mac Lab in the school library. Please bring a water bottle, a snack, and your school laptop. (Charged!)
Payment may be made by check (brought to class or mailed to P.O. Box 1623, CBCO 81224) or via Venmo @MsEricaCB.
We look forward to helping your students prepare with confidence. Thank you!
